Review: MaddAddam

MaddAddam
MaddAddam by Margaret Atwood

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I enjoyed the humor and invention and post-apocalyptic paranoia, but something felt sort of weightless throughout. Certainly Zeb was a good character with mostly interesting adventures, but the characters of many of the other MaddAddamites seemed somewhat sketchy. It's hard to complain about the strain of kindness in the book, mainly because of Toby's POV, as it made for a pleasant and surprisingly optimistic read, but also that geniality seems to lower the stakes somewhat.
