The Magician

Years ago in college, when I was first learning about the Tarot and Astrology, I read somewhere that once in your life, with great ceremony, you should flip over a single Tarot card and that card would represent yourself and indicate your direction in life.

So I turned over a card and it was The Magician.

This afternoon I saw a Which Tarot Card Are You? quiz link on someone's MySpace page and so I took the test to see if The Magician was still accurate for me.

Sure enough, that's exactly what turned up.

A nice bit of description from yhwh.com:

What is a magician? A magician is one who, with the strength of his word, manifests and manipulates the physical world. That has come into ill repute, because the power of the magician has been used for very dark, evil purposes. However, it was not always so, and in its purest form, magic is religion.

Now I have to get back to creating fantasical, manipulative worlds of imagination.

The quiz result:

You are The Magician

Skill, wisdom, adaptation. Craft, cunning, depending on dignity.

Eleoquent and charismatic both verbally and in writing,
you are clever, witty, inventive and persuasive.

The Magician is the male power of creation, creation by willpower and desire. In that ancient sense, it is the ability to make things so just by speaking them aloud. Reflecting this is the fact that the Magician is represented by Mercury. He represents the gift of tongues, a smooth talker, a salesman. Also clever with the slight of hand and a medicine man - either a real doctor or someone trying to sell you snake oil.
